Northern Ash, Mahogany, Walnut, Cherry, Maple, Alder & Clear Pine
How do commissions work?
Please, email me at mathiaschau.art@gmail.com to inquire about a commission process. I'd be happy to discuss further if you have any questions.
Upon your confirmation of starting a commission, the following will happen:
Admission and Deposit process:
1) 50% deposit up front. I will send you an invoice via PayPal to secure your spot.
2) Booking a draft/consultation start date & week. Commissions are currently booked out until June 2026, but you can reserve your spot any time.
The Drafting and Drawing Process:
3) Illustration drafting. On your scheduled dates, I will consult with you on what illustration you’d like.* You will be presented with a draft or drafts, depending on the commission type you chose.
4) Selecting/finalizing a draft.
5) Completing the agreed-upon drafted illustration on the body
6) Photos of the finished illustration sent to the commissioner for confirmation before the finalizing stage
Finalizing stage:
7) Clear coating (poly or lacquer)
8) Polishing and finishing the body
Shipping and Final Balances:
9) Shipping and final invoicing. I will provide shipping options**. Once you’ve selected your choice, it will be billed to the final invoice. Any duties/import fees (only if you sent in a body to me) will also be billed on the final invoice.
*I will not do explicit, profane, or offensive pieces of art. Please respect this boundary before reserving your commission slot.
**Please note that any customs charges will be the commissioner's responsibility. Customs charges are out of our control.
**Shipped products will always be listed and insured for their gross value. They'll be insured, tracked, and require a signature upon arrival.
***This entire process takes approximately 5-6 months to complete from the draft start date.
